Editage organizes Indonesia Research Summit to support universities in enhancing academic reputation

With the objective to solidify Indonesia’s position as a global leader in pioneering research and innovation, Editage, the flagship brand of Cactus Communications organized the ‘Indonesia Research Summit 2024’ in Jakarta. This landmark event drew substantial engagement from esteemed researchers and academics representing over 20 prestigious universities in Indonesia. The summit proved to be a resounding success, as the participants convened to enhance and elevate the calibre and volume of academic research publications in the country.

As the keynote speaker at the Indonesia Research Summit 2024, Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC, Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN.Eng, as the Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology MOECRT Indonesia, In his speech, he explained, “The scientific research publication in Indonesia has been extraordinary in terms of quantity generated by universities. However, the quality of publications still needs significant improvement. It is important to ensure that the journals where we publish scientific research have good quality so that the reputation of universities in Indonesia and the lecturers can be enhanced globally. To strengthen national publications, the government strongly encourages collaborative research between Indonesian universities and universities abroad.”

The participants also engaged in an insightful panel discussion on the topic ‘Elevating Universities’ Research Impact on the Global Stage’. The panelists included Prof. Dr. Agus Haryono, M.Sc. – Deputy Chairman for Facilitation of Research and Innovation, BRIN; Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si. – Rector, Universitas Sumatera Utara; Prof. Dr. Anuraga Jayanegara, S.Pt., M.Sc.- Director of Strategic Studies and Academic Reputation, Institut Pertanian Bogor; Prof. Dr. Juneman Abraham, S.Psi., M.Si. –  Vice Rector Research & Technology Transfer. The panelists emphasized the significance of cultivating a positive university reputation to attract top-tier talent and enhance the perceived value of universities in the eyes of investors. This strategy aims to elevate the stature of universities and contribute to attracting talent and investment, ultimately driving academic and economic growth.
