Editage, the flagship brand of Cactus Technology Solutions (CACTUS), will mark Peer Review Week 2026 for the 11th consecutive year. As research output and submission volumes continue to grow, the sustainability of peer review is increasingly under pressure from a growing capacity challenge. In partnership with European Association of Science Editors (EASE), Editage will deliberate over this critical challenge through the theme ‘Peer Review Capacity: Volume, Speed, and Quality,’ and explore how the scholarly community can balance volume and speed with the quality, expertise, and integrity that peer review depends on.

Scheduled from 14-18 September 2026, Peer Review Week will convene stakeholders from across scholarly publishing ecosystem, including researchers, reviewers, editors, and publishers worldwide. Throughout the week, Editage will bring together experts from across the publishing landscape for an engaging week, featuring a live panel discussion, a live manuscript peer review walkthrough session, interviews, and resources.
The live panel discussion on “Reviewer Fatigue, Invisible Labor, and the Sustainability Problem” will explore how reviewers can be better supported and whether the peer review model needs to evolve to address growing demands on the system. The discussion will feature Alice Meadows, Independent Scholarly Communications Consultant & Open Research Advocate; Daniel Gorelick, PhD, Editor-in-Chief, Biology Open and Associate Professor, Baylor College of Medicine; and Mario Malički, Associate Director, Stanford Program on Research Rigor and Reproducibility, and Chair, EASE Peer Review Committee.
While the peer review walkthrough by Dr. Raffaella Gozzelino will provide researchers with a firsthand view of how reviewers assess submissions, offering practical insights that researchers can apply to strengthen their own manuscripts and better understand the peer review process.
Interviews on “Peer Review in the Age of AI: What Should Stay Human?” will have experts share their views on how AI is reshaping peer review and where human judgment, expertise, and oversight remain critical. This interview series will bring perspectives from Laura Dormer, Editor-in-Chief of Learned Publishing, The Association of Learned & Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP); Maryam Sayab, Executive Director, Asian Council of Science Editors (ACSE); and Roohi Ghosh, Ambassador for Researcher Success, CACTUS, and Vice Chair, EASE India Chapter.
