Editage supports Indonesian research ecosystem, bridging AI innovation with open science for sustainable research

Editage, the flagship brand of Cactus Communications (CACTUS), a leading technology company specializing in AI and expert services for the scholarly publishing ecosystem, participated as an Industry Partner at the Global Research Council (GRC) 2025 Asia Pacific Meeting hosted by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and National Research Foundation (NRF) Singapore from November 4-6, 2025, at Jakarta, Indonesia.

Designed to enhance research quality and strengthen Indonesia’s academic landscape, Editage is committed to supporting funders, universities & researchers through its comprehensive suite of AI and human-led offerings. These efforts are focused on advancing the development of science and technology, driving national progress, and contributing to global knowledge creation.

Through its services, Editage aims to democratize research by integrating AI innovation with open science principles, enabling technology to serve as a driving force for national research and innovation. Its participation in this event highlights the role of human-centered technology in improving research and scientific writing, streamlining grant management, and supporting the long-term reputations of higher education institutions and funding agencies.

Ruchi Chauhan, Vice President & Head of Marketing (ROW), Cactus Communications, stated, “Funders play a critical role in shaping how research is supported and shared globally. At Editage, we believe that AI, when developed and applied ethically, can help funders and institutions make the research process more transparent, inclusive, and efficient. When combined with human expertise, AI becomes a powerful tool that helps researchers, especially in emerging markets like Indonesia, to share their ideas confidently, responsibly, and with integrity on the global stage.”

She added, “This vision aligns with the goals of the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), which is developing a national AI roadmap to ensure the responsible and ethical use of technology across all sectors.”

As Indonesia continues to emerge as a powerhouse in Southeast Asia’s digital economy, spurred by a growing tech-savvy population, improved infrastructure, and strategic public-private investments, the nation stands at the forefront of scientific and technological advancements. With technology becoming ever more pervasive, the future of science will be shaped by researchers, publishers, and funders who embrace digital innovation to improve their capacity to support scientific endeavors. Editage plays a crucial role in advancing these national aspirations for high-quality research through its unique AI plus human expert services model.

Producing internationally reputable research, however, remains a challenge for some researchers due to funding constraints, limited access to technology, and gaps in academic networks. Without adequate resources, they may struggle to conduct in-depth investigations, leading to findings that may lack impact. Additionally, language and writing proficiency, particularly in scientific English and the ability to articulate complex ideas, can significantly affect the quality and visibility of research output intended for international journals. Through this event, GRC sought to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the global research ecosystem.

Editage’s comprehensive suite aims to empower researchers, universities, and institutions across Indonesia to enhance the global impact of their work. Its services include journal recommendations, manuscript reviews, language editing, image reviews, structural recommendations, translation to global standards, plagiarism checks, and assistance in publishing manuscripts in relevant international journals.

Siddharth Bhatia, Chief Growth Officer, Institutional Sales (West), Cactus Communications, remarked, “Through our AI and human expert services, we are committed to empowering the scientific research community by contributing to the advancement of science. Our participation in the Global Research Council (GRC) 2025 Asia Pacific Meeting reflects this commitment, which brought together funders, institutions and researchers from multiple countries to develop sustained global collaboration and drive scientific progress. We will continue to broaden our services to larger markets by strengthening our partnerships with the research communities and contributing towards their future success.”

Ruchi added, “Internationally reputable research and scientific publications are vital in positioning Indonesia as one of the world’s leading research centers. Therefore, we need to improve the quality and growth of scientific publications.

For over two decades, Editage has supported over 35,000 journals and research projects and assisted over 5 million researchers worldwide. In Indonesia, Editage is working closely with 24 government universities. Through these collaborations, Editage is dedicated to empowering scientists at various institutions to produce globally recognized academic publications.

“We are confident that Editage can play a significant role in addressing national challenges, supporting a resilient research ecosystem, and tackling future strategic issues,” Ruchi concluded.
