CACTUS launches peer-review training course in partnership with SPIE

~Researcher.Life, a CACTUS brand offering an integrated ecosystem of tools and support for researchers, has created customized peer-review course for researchers in optics and photonics~

Cactus Communication (CACTUS) has partnered with SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, to create a peer-review training course for optics and photonics researchers. The customized course offers fundamental and advanced peer reviewer training modules for early to mid-career researchers.

In academia, being invited as a peer reviewer requires being a subject matter expert. Therefore, peer reviewer training is an entry point to a technical community. Peer review helps early career researchers to expand their network and stay up to date with new developments in their respective fields.

On this partnership, Abhishek Goel, CEO & Co-founder, CACTUS comments, “The partnership of Researcher.Life, our suite of researcher tools and services, with SPIE will help strengthen the skillset of researchers and help them become great peer reviewers. At CACTUS, we believe in helping the researcher community with tools and resources to improve and facilitate their journey.”

“Many new researchers want to learn how to referee academic papers—it’s an important skill in academia and scholarly publishing,” said SPIE Journals Manager, Gwen Weerts. “But it’s hard for lab leaders and mentors to make time for this type of training, and even when they do, it can be inconsistent. This new reviewer training course will help bridge that gap and will also help refill the over-tapped reviewer pipeline.”

SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, brings engineers, scientists, students, and business professionals together to advance light-based science and technology. The Society, founded in 1955, connects and engages with our global constituency through industry-leading conferences and exhibitions; publications of conference proceedings, books, and journals in the SPIE Digital Library; and career-building opportunities.
