Editage, the flagship brand of Cactus Communications (CACTUS), in collaboration with Universitas Sumatera Utara, one of the leading Indonesian University based on QS Ranking, successfully co-hosted the second edition of Indonesia Research Summit 2025. Building upon the success of the Indonesia Research Summit 2024, this year’s event aimed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration while providing valuable insights into emerging research trends and best practices.
Under the theme ‘Innovating Academic Research: Pathways to Higher Impact Publications, Local innovations, and Advancing Sustainable Development’, the daylong summit brought leading academics from across West Indonesia and Sumatera Island. Attendees included Rectors, Vice Rectors, Directors of Research, Heads of Research, Deans of Research. The event featured engaging panel discussion sessions, such as ‘Decentralization Approach of Research and Development’ and ‘Strengthening International Collaboration through Research’, which were well received by the attendees.
Indonesia’s growing research ecosystem presents immense potential, given the country’s rich biodiversity, expanding technology sector, and increasing focus on sustainable development. Initiatives such as the Indonesia Research Summit 2025 provides a platform for collaboration among academic institutions, government bodies, and private sectors, which are critical for promoting innovation and advancing research capabilities.
